As some of you already know, LVF is having a contest to celebrate it's first birthday! In celebration we will be having another fabulous contest that will be ending on December 24th!
The contest? Submit a one sentence answer of what you believe to be your favorite frilliest movie and why. For each season I have a new favorite, so right now it's the Polar Bear King - which will be a subject in an up coming Dress Up Time entry!
Some people have already entered the contest, you can either comment on this post or the one linked here. You have till December 24th (Christmas Eve) to enter! But what about prizes? You'll be getting The Polar Bear King and The Muppet Christmas Carol on DVD along with a yummy Christmas themed movie snack. There is also one other prize, but that's actually a surprise! There will only be one winner this time, so please make sure to enter (US residence only, sorry!)
Can't wait to see the entries! Also, you might have noticed a bit of a Christmas/Holiday theme around LVF. We have Christmas music playing, decorations and lots of beautiful things to check out. Watch Misako Aoki go to Putumayo (my new favorite brand) in Frilly Video of the Month. Also, VanillaBlitz is featured in this months coordinate of the month! She wore this to celebrate her birthday, cute right? If you would like to have your coordinate featured in January, send your favorite coordinate to me at drowell90@yahoo.com!
Are you getting excited about the Holidays? This (next to January, due to my birthday) are my two favorite months of the whole year! Look out for more Holiday themed posts this Decemeber throughout!
It's such a corny thing, by my favorite frilly holiday flick is the Nutcracker Prince. The way they capture the light in the animation is so beautiful and I love the use of Tchaikovsky's score in the film. The Pas de Deux between Clara and the Nutcracker, plus the simple but elegant ballet dress she wears, are my favorite parts of the film. Plus, you have to love Peter O'Toole as a wise and rusty wind-up tin soldier.
ReplyDeleteThis might sound a little off, but keep in mind that I love the classic aesthetic best ;)
ReplyDeleteMy "frilliest" movie choice is and always will be A Little Princess (1995). It has a beautiful, haunting look, and really reminds me that no matter where I am, what I'm doing, or what I'm wearing, my heart is a place filled with beautiful things, and I will always be "A Princess" there and no one can ever take that from me.
My Favorite and frilliest movie choice is Cinderella (1997 one, with brandy in it). It always reminded me that no matter how I look I can always live my life as a lovely princess in the end. :D
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to LVF! :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite frilly movie is actually probably Gigi. I love the music and the story, and I really like Gigi's character. She's precocious and cheerful, and her development into a woman is far from graceful and rather uncomfortable, but it has a happy ending, which I think a lot of lolitas can really relate to.
For this season it's defiantly White Chistmas, everyone and everything just looks so beautiful. The music, the dancing, and the costumes just make me feel like I'm in a more fun world.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite "frilly" movie would have to be Dangerous Liaisons. It's interesting that this movie is based on a book which is a just a compilation of letters. However I love it all the same and the costume design is absolutely stunning.
ReplyDeleteAlso John Malkovich is one of my favorite actors, and he pulls off the role of a fop so well.
My favorite "frilly" movie is The Corpse Bride. The old-fashioned clothing looks awesome on the quirky characters and the stop-motion animation has such a vintage feel.
ReplyDeleteHOORAYYYY!! <33
ReplyDeleteSo cliche, but my favorite frilly movie has to be Marie Antoinette (the Kirsten Dunst one), I watch it endlessly and I never get tired of it! The dresses inspire me so much, and I all around just love it. I love all her accessories, adornments, and the whole decadent atmosphere.
I've yet to see the Norma Shearer version of the movie, but its on my list of must watch frilly films~
One of my favortite frilly movies has to be swan lake (barbie style), it may be based off a sexist symbol doll but the movie has very good animation and beautiful unique dresses, especially for the animals of the lake/forest.
ReplyDeleteNow this may seem really odd but my favorite frilly movie is the Lord of the Rings trilogy (plus the recent fan film Born of Hope.) I adore the various love stories in these movies as well as all of the fantastic jewelry and costumes, beautiful landscapes, artful weapons, as well as the wonderful story that seems to stress storytelling, friendship, and songs. I also love how the films depict the women in the story!
