I'm home friends! Acen was an amazing experience that I can not really put into words, but in a few days I'm going to attempt to for all my readers. It was one of those joyous moments that only occur in rare instances for a few of us. Those special times when you get to be in the same room as people you've admired and respected for so long, that have meant so much to you and have created a complete and utter universe that you've embraced for many years. To be part of and to co-exist within that universe was a dream come true. I've been wanting to be in the same room as Maki and Asuka ever since I got into this fashion and bought my first Angelic Pretty dress in '08. The atmosphere was beautiful, as well as the hearts of many of the people involved. I loved every minute of it and in the next few days, expect a seriously epic post of epic proportions. Until then, keep on frillin!<br />

Yes, it's official - I've been a big old poop with blogging lately and I'm so sorry! With moving to my new home and working at Tribeca Film Festival, I've been a busy little whisp. But I have to mention something that I think all of you frillies will be excited to hear - tomorrow I head to Chicago to attend Anime Central! Yes, I will be attending the Angelic Pretty Tea Party, and yes I'll be modeling the Indie Fashion Show! I couldn't be happier, seriously. With this and some other magical things happening in my life, things are going very grand. I can't wait to share all the memories and magical moments with my readers and bring some life back into LVF.<br />

Hello my favorite frillies! March just flew on by, didn't it? I've been busy moving myself to my new home, but slowly I'm getting all this stuff ready for our new home. In the meantime though, March is going to be another busy and awesome month for me. Yesterday I went to a lovely tea party with some of the local girls from NYC to Cha-An Tea House and had a blast! A separate group of us went to shop/look around and then head dinner at on of my favorite places, Bourbon Street Grill.<br />
<br />
For the rest of the month I got myself really busy with tons of fun and frilly things, as mentioned in my update post last month. This weekend will be a meet up to see my favorite Sci-Fi novel, John Carter (of Mars) come to the big screen, with a visit to the Museum of Natural History to add some spice to it!<br />
<br />
The best part of this month comes the next weekend! First, I'll be getting a visit day with my beautiful friend from Chicago, Ellejay, and then I'll be seeing Newsies (the 1992 Disney musical movie) live on Broadway with my bestest frilly, Bianca. Seriously it's going to be the most epic frilly weekend ever.<br />
<br />
There's even more excitement that's going on, but I have to pace myself to enjoy each thing. I'm hoping to be making videos of those events soon, but since my camera's been m.i.a (battery charger is lost sadly) I'll have to wait until it's found.<br />
<br />
In terms of LVF, you might notice this months Coordinate of the Month and Video of the Month. The coordinate is one that has been going around tumblr that I just had to share. I love these two girls, they are just stunning and I'm hoping they are submitting this to the Twin contest going on right now cause they look amazing. The video of the month is of vlogger Peachie Princess, someone who I have become a huge fan of recently. Here she reviews a purchase from <a href="http://www.kawaiigoods.com/">Kawaii Goods</a>!<br />

<br />
It's become no secret if you follow my tumblr, that I've become a little bit of a fan of Rumpelstiltskin from ABC's <i>Once Upon A Time</i>. At first I wasn't very much taken with the series as a whole, but after finally seeing the recent Beauty and the Beast themed "Skin Deep" episode, I became incredibly hooked to the whole series but especially with Rumpelstiltskin/Mr.Gold's storyline. He's been developed from a once one note and annoying character, to one of such complexity that it's a bit un-human to grasp the diverse differences between the two as if he's almost an entirely new character.<br />
<br />
Played by the very talented Robert Carlyle, Rumpel is that great 80's character mixture of incredibly creepy and incredibly attractive based on that. Similar to actors Gary Oldman and David Bowie, Carlyle seems to have mastered this technique and really gives a performance of the ages that I hope becomes recognized by many and hopefully an award. It's something I haven't seen on television in a long time, in addition to a really good fantasy series in general.<br />
<br />
But I can't mention Rumpel without discussing the current thought on everyone's mind, The "Skin Deep" episode. Yes, as I've mentioned in the previous post I have a thing for various retellings of my favorite fairy tale. But by god this could be one of the best and most unique tellings I've seen. Though I had my doubts about de Ravin (Belle) based on interviews and etc, she really nailed her character and is stunning in both the conventional and non-conventional senses. Rumpel's story arch grew with this story, and the way that this romance (though short) was spread out was just beautiful in every way. Rumpel's range in emotion is fantastic. Also that cliffhanger (le sigh).<br />
<br />
So with that, I decided we needed to have a different take on Dress Up Time, and with that I decided Rumpel was my next choice! Check out the coordinate below for some gold spinning fun.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsMmmsRHWQ48qpd_brzfuKSItgTVfo86plI7VNFjBHbfBzUicgdHc3KBvfpzNV4wIeeaNlGKLJDWwmUuAsu2Zlrslqks0r_wdw8FIa_PAFIeRHGHbkHpBAjzCpZtUdNQ5ASGwcENnYAQ0/s1600/Rumpelstiltskin.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsMmmsRHWQ48qpd_brzfuKSItgTVfo86plI7VNFjBHbfBzUicgdHc3KBvfpzNV4wIeeaNlGKLJDWwmUuAsu2Zlrslqks0r_wdw8FIa_PAFIeRHGHbkHpBAjzCpZtUdNQ5ASGwcENnYAQ0/s320/Rumpelstiltskin.jpg" width="247" /></a></div>
Yes, most of this is Alice and the Pirates. But why not? To me, AatP is the most perfect fit for Rumpel's style. The dark fairy tale appeal of the brand just works, especially that coat that reminds me of the coat he wears<a href="http://sookiestackhouse.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Belle-and-the-Beast.jpg"> here</a>. I chose to go with a bold colored dress as opposed to a print, and this red colored jsk works perfectly with some of the red in his outfits. I also chose those floral tights, as to go with the theme of Roses and his relationship with Belle. The boots are just extremely Rumpel looking, along with the necklace which holds significance in the episode "Desperate Souls".<br />
<br />
So, are you now interested in checking out the series or wanting to become a magical wizard like Rumpel over here? Then go and wear such a thing! Be sure to check out LVF for more Once Upon A Time themed posts in the future, as well as more Dress Up Times to come.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7272779072787485127.post-35210128869366591492012-02-17T08:29:00.000-08:002012-02-17T08:41:28.062-08:00Del Toro's Beauty and the Beast - LVF's Fan Cast!So it's no secret that I love the fairy tale known to be "as old as time". <i>Beauty and the Beast</i> has continued to capture my imagination regardless of it's versions in media all around, and probably is one of the main reasons I wear lolita in the first place. Maybe it's my secret fantasies of living out my fairy tale dreams in real life, and one of those is stumbling upon an abandoned dark castle that is home to a lonely tortured soul who enchants me with magic and we discover incredible mysteries inside the castle and about each other as people. I know many people either love or hate this particular fairy tale, but I can never get enough of it.<br />

<br />
<br />
So with the recent announcement of (my favorite director) Guillermo Del Toro's version and the premiere of the latest episode of Once Upon A Time, a felt the need to make a delicious fan girly post of who I would like to be cast in Del Toro's and going into deep details as to who and why thus should be cast. Again though, this is just my opinion, and nothing is set in stone from my understanding (other then Belle's casting) So let's have fun with an idea of it!<br />
<br />
<who beast?="" below!="" details="" play="" should="" the=""><br /><br />
</who><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK6AjkB1UQm-mSW3wFwa_qIUkEN4NUCulwPS5qIB_MvFIkFuK_Eqd2val7MDfcI-Mb4Ux8shE5liaARJsxPQZtZ9h07kEE2gU1c375h24nPXQC1Wmm6XfeloX2b-eGFYDu6UV6Z2doxiU/s1600/Beast.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK6AjkB1UQm-mSW3wFwa_qIUkEN4NUCulwPS5qIB_MvFIkFuK_Eqd2val7MDfcI-Mb4Ux8shE5liaARJsxPQZtZ9h07kEE2gU1c375h24nPXQC1Wmm6XfeloX2b-eGFYDu6UV6Z2doxiU/s320/Beast.jpg" width="247" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
First let's discuss my favorite of our two leads, The Beast. Let me just put this out there, this is a hard decision. This is my all time favorite character in history of characters. I loved specific Beasts more than others (Disney's, Vincent from 80's TV Series and Natvor from the Czech version) and to me the Beast can only be done right with following a few key things that the gentlemen I chose could follow perfectly. If you see from the collage above, the casting of our hero can only one of two ways. Either Del Toro will go with a more striking and frightening actor with piercing eyes, or they'll go with a more handsome actor that can do both the rough physicality of a typical "Beast" archetype and be the typical handsome prince at the end. Personally, I hope they go for a mixture of both.<br />
<br />
If they go with the first path mentioned, I'd hope they'd go for Doug Jones. Yes, everyone and their momma knows he'll be in the movie in some way. He's Del Toro's muse and has taken on many beastly roles in his films in the past, including my favorite Fauno from Pan's Labyrinth. Jones would bring a fantastic creepy performance that also can be heart warming and beautiful. Another person that could give a similar but a bit more vocal performance could be Gary Oldman (check out his take on Dracula for starts) or Paul Bettany, who I think is always cast in the worst movies but is incredibly talented. Cillian Murphy could also do this, but have a great physical and vocal mixture of tortured and those eyes.<br />
<br />
If they went on the second idea mentioned, I think Charlie Hunnam would be perfect. Charlie is a younger actor, who has incredibly good looks but is known to play real mean and angry characters such as Jax from Sons of Anarchy. He also could be incredibly powerful if they were to include scenes of The Beast doing physical actions. This also is very true for Tom Hardy, who if you've seen Bronson, is one of the most gifted young actors out there that is incredibly scary but has very kind eyes. I could see him really diving deep into the role.<br />
<br />
But who would be my number #1 choice? Michael Fassbender. I will always support Fassbender in any movie he's in regardless of the role, but this truly would be the most perfect role for him. First off, it's pretty obvious, Fassbender is delicious. But at the same time, Fassbender is an incredibly frightening person at times. He also is not shy to extreme make up, <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiY__HBh4TCXxtD4UMoPiQGPgDmZeW2YGc7smaWl1U5Pca7FGLZTp8X41NZ1C1VeD6aP8a5BDGSXYA_U_lYhMpaoOj0o0RAeRhYuRfi3HnMYJVH5sPKrKNY_y0QQp15VR8OefP_3P4-ENs/s1600/creek16.png">especially in Blood Creek</a>, where he plays a Natzi zombie. Fassbender also can do romance beautifully, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uOZQkKHOFE">just look at him in Jane Eyre</a>. So yes, Fassbender is my number one choice.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGBESOizri7FUxY_RtF7ZkDg8UDzkuSDh5CIDhvVHRbHYMD1-T2tuVJQx8GWnO9PX59O-tsQIQ4ZxlaYf-ZiPFIZ9lZ4wPSFbviBt0KpglyxAgmSpMPPzvwfDXl3lgEY6PoMKG0jTIFXo/s1600/dividerrosevine.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGBESOizri7FUxY_RtF7ZkDg8UDzkuSDh5CIDhvVHRbHYMD1-T2tuVJQx8GWnO9PX59O-tsQIQ4ZxlaYf-ZiPFIZ9lZ4wPSFbviBt0KpglyxAgmSpMPPzvwfDXl3lgEY6PoMKG0jTIFXo/s1600/dividerrosevine.gif" /></a></div>
<br />
Now let's discuss other casting choices for other characters. For me personally, I'm hoping this version that Del Toro is going for is the original story mixed with a good backstory to The Beast, rather then the whole general never explained nonsense that happens at the end of most based on text versions.<br />
<br />
So, let's go with that basis. First off, who should play the other leading man, Gaston? Though not always included in every version, I think it'd be great to have him in Del Toro's. Personally, I'd like a really slimy yet attractive kind of actor. Someone that could work really well would be Timothy Olyphant or Karl Urban. Both typical handsome, but can play evil really well and can turn from the hometown hero to villain in a second. If they wanted someone younger that would look good next to Emma Watson (who I'll get to that in a second...), William Moseley might be really great as well. He's been known for playing the good kid, but I think there's a lot more fight in him, which also goes for a fellow co-star of his, Ben Barnes.<br />
<br />
In other roles, I'd love to see Daniel Day Lewis or Jeremy Irons as Belle's Father. Usually a rounder shorter actor plays the role, but I'd love for a different change in that casting and either of the two would be wonderful. If they were going to go with a more older gentlemen, I'd love James Cromwell to take on the role. For Belle's sisters, I'd love Chloe Sevigny and Mena Suvari to play them. In my head, I'd also love for Doug Jones to play a gender-less magical being that is the person that puts The Beast under his curse. Basically, if Doug Jones did every single role in the movie, I'd still be excited.<br />

So what do you think would make the perfect cast for Del Toro's version? I'll be honest, Emma Watson would never be my first choice for Belle. Though she is beautiful, she isn't the best actress nor do I think she'd make a great Beauty. I'd personally love them to pick Chloe Moretz or Haliee Steinfeld. They are both young, pretty but not exactly the prettiest. They can both do the gothic tale justice with their acting and their visual appeal. Watson has too much model appeal and too much of an already devoted fan base of a specific character to break into this role. It's obvious she is being considered because of money interest, but I hope another is chosen instead.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Overall though, I have hopes for this version being a future favorite. Del Toro has never let me down when it's his own solid project. He has an incredible understanding of horror and fantasy, and knows how they work together very well. This could mean that this version would be a classic among Jean Cocteau's and Disney's. Personally, I'm hoping Del Toro's is as good as the Czech verison, Panna et Netvor. <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Xe-mzJiozM">Check out the whole movie here</a> (it's the picture thats above), it's stunning to say the least.<br />
<br />
So comment below who you'd like to see in the movie and your thoughts on it overall! I'm interested to hear your take on the tale as old as time! <br />

Oh child, I've been out of commission and I apologize! January has been filled with tons of birthday activities that have been keeping me incredibly busy and thus have made any sort of updates on LVF very slow. But now let's get on with some updates and soon to be posts!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
First up, this month's coordinate is featuring the ever awesome Ellejay of <a href="http://www.sherryandcookies.com/">Sherry and Cookies</a>. I consider her to be one of my best out of town friends and I miss her incredibly! This Teddy Bear's Cafe coordinate is stunning, casual and fun! I love the edition of the hat and the donut bag is always a plus with the print. In terms of this movies Lolita Video, I actually chose a vintage trailer instead! If I haven't said it enough here, I love <i><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111333/">The Swan Princess</a>.</i> It's probably one of the most underrated animated movies of all time, with very few flaws and fantastic music/animation for an independent studio flick. If you need your Swan Princess fix, a while ago I made <a href="http://lavidafrills.blogspot.com/2010/07/dress-up-time-2-princess-odette-from.html">a Dress Up Time with the princess herself, Odette</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
In other news, my birthday happened only a few short weeks ago! I turned the ever non-impressive 22 (or at this point I'm just adding numbers, so I turned 4 actually!). To celebrate my birthday, I began with a small group of pals got together to celebrate not only mine but my beautiful friend Crystal's birthday, with karaoke and seeing our favorite Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast on the big screen. Sadly I didn't get to take a lot of pictures since I was busy being a hostess and singing 80's rock ballads like View to a Kill with extreme passion. There was one photo snapped of me and the other birthday girl, sadly with my hair looking not so great due to the weather, but here it is none the less!</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/magicalongaku/6812176987/" title="Birthday Party 2012 by magicalongaku, on Flickr"><img alt="Birthday Party 2012" height="240" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7166/6812176987_a2f9fe4848.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
On Monday the 23rd was then my actual birthday, and I celebrated with my amazing boyfriend Brian! We spent the day mostly at my house cuddling, with him being a good sport and letting us watch together not one but 7 episodes of Jem and The Holograms Season 1! I'm a lucky lady to have such a glitter accepting boyfriend. Then we ended the day by going into New York, having dinner at<a href="http://www.aspensocialclub.com/"> Aspen Social Club</a> (aka Gaston's Tavern) and seeing (for my 9th time and his first) <i>Phantom of the Opera</i> starring my favorite Broadway Phantom, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQX1146XZ7A">Hugh Panaro</a>. It was truly a magical night that I'll soon not forget! </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I was also treated the next day by my mother to seeing War Horse at Lincoln Center! I can't recommend this show enough and how it's a must see if you go to New York or London. The movie was incredible, the book was one of my favorites as a child, but the play is the best of all the three versions. It's a sight to be seen in person and can't really express the impressive nature through video, <a href="http://youtu.be/qw8ruoIqGxI">though seeing this is adorable regardless</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
But what is up next for LVF? I'm very excited to be celebrating Valentine's Day with friends, along with going to various shows and concerts in the coming months. Like...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- L'arc~en~ciel at Madison Square Garden</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Newsies on Broadway with my lovely friend Bianca </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Jesus Christ Superstar with my boyfriend</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Yes. Lots of things are happening! </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Did I also mention I'll be going to Anime Boston in April too? So pumped! </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
BUT what about the frills? There are some new additions to my wardrobe on their way, and I'm incredibly excited for them to arrive! I'll definitely be wearing them all the time at the events I'm going to.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Enough about me! What are you all up to? I hope something fun and magical none the less! Keep looking at LVF for more new content to come. I'm getting pumped myself for it!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgX2oR9fDRNB98m3yFzDwlhHblMNXZ9Osyo45tEBacoPA87qnklV9YujsvqvNM_s9iIw5Vvje6MDpFtaA59q4iEEjwJN1yFTeN70YDnGAsdLEqsiwi7sHt5Kx4vCB9YkUmnwJGOIinzZF0/s1600/Picture+1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="218" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgX2oR9fDRNB98m3yFzDwlhHblMNXZ9Osyo45tEBacoPA87qnklV9YujsvqvNM_s9iIw5Vvje6MDpFtaA59q4iEEjwJN1yFTeN70YDnGAsdLEqsiwi7sHt5Kx4vCB9YkUmnwJGOIinzZF0/s400/Picture+1.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
It's no secret that I love Drag Queens, and if I had my choice of specific queens that would rule the world, Manila Luzon would be at the top. This native New Yorker, is to me, a true talent above others. As Ru would say, she has uniqueness, nerve and talent (along with beauty to match!) Back in 2011, I was introduced to the new crop of queens on season 3 of Drag Race. I wasn't sure my feelings on most of them, but the minute Manila walked into the room I knew it was drag love at first drag sight!<br />
<br />
Now exactly a year later, we come to a magical moment for Ms.Luzon - the release of her first music video <i>Hot Couture</i>. I can't exactly explain how excited I've been for the unveiling of this high definition epic, but trust me it was well worth it! The behind the scenes clips and teasers gave me hopes that this would be a glamour filled classic, but I had no idea what magical visuals I was in store for.<br />
<br />
But let me just say that when a video starts off with a little kid version of my favorite Drag Superstar, I knew I was in for a good time. There are many incredible outfits and shots, all shot on one of the nicest cameras I've seen. The editing is fun and in sync just right. But the best moments come towards the end (Can we say Manila Antoinette anyone?) The pink orgasmic outfit towards the end was to die for. Thus I definitely say if you are at all of fan of beautiful things, frills and magic - by god, Manila knows how to serve it to you on a platter honey!<br />
<br />
With a song that is catchy as hell and a video that is beyond even more fun to boot, Hot Couture is a masterpiece that I think even the legendary Miss Paul could take some lessons from (I'm just saying, her videos need an HD upgrade which then otherwise would be perfect!) Overall Manila has produced what I think to be the best music video from the Drag Race alumni, and should definitely keep up the good work. I can't wait to see what comes up next! My suggestion? Have Raja write some rhymes and do a collab honey! Diamond Crown Couture anyone?<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gdbbHr1d2A">So what are you waiting for, get a move on and watch Manila's video right now!</a> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

It's been a while, but after an amazing vacation and a wisdom tooth removed, I found some time to make a new post. The best part about this post is that it's in celebration of the re-release of my favorite fairy tale and one of my favorite Disney movies, Beauty and the Beast!<br />
<br />
So how do you celebrate such an event? Why not dress as every girls favorite book worm, Belle! Belle is more then just her name appears to tell us (Beauty, incase you didn't know!) but she is perfection with perfect flaws within her. She has become a symbol for all of us who are considered the odd girls of our town. Also why Belle is so loved is that her "want" or "goal" in life is much more provocative then say Ariel who wants legs or Cinderella who wants to dance with the prince. No, what Belle wants is something beyond those more literal items or events. Belle wants adventure and a life grander then she lives. This is what makes her beyond the usual Disney heroine and adored by all.<br />
<br />
With that acknowledgement, it is then a great question - how does a lolita go about bringing Belle into their look? Well since this is a special Dress Up Time, why try not one but three of Belle's looks!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZFUyro7vD5YRxjlTqEW4jSPWcqy2-IT2wvcOkEOg-_adP4J3JNLr_nFF4ybpIefhnlYalMI2-DFReA7SZXMWV4WJLXkhBZHlbLv4MV9ZI-h2spvVtvs9udeevfM6Y0PAZrd8vHe7dwd0/s1600/Belle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZFUyro7vD5YRxjlTqEW4jSPWcqy2-IT2wvcOkEOg-_adP4J3JNLr_nFF4ybpIefhnlYalMI2-DFReA7SZXMWV4WJLXkhBZHlbLv4MV9ZI-h2spvVtvs9udeevfM6Y0PAZrd8vHe7dwd0/s320/Belle.jpg" width="247" /></a></div>
<br />
You can do as many variations on any of Belle's outfits. Personally, I'm a sucker for her "Something There" dress. Though I chose something much more princess looking then the casual appeal it has in the movie, it looks more realistic. I also decided to go with a more refined tone on her yellow ball gown dress. I thought a nice simple bolero is a good touch. But whatever way you decide to go about it, make sure your version of Belle has tons of roses in the details. Roses are the important symbol within the movie, along with (but not shown) mirror necklaces or pendents would be a lovely touch as well!<br />
<br />
No matter which way you go about it, you can have a ton of fun making your own version of Belle. Her outfits in the movie are devoid of details and thus it's even more fun to fill in the lines yourself! So, feel brave enough to go into the Beast's castle in your frilliest garb? Try it! I'm sure I'll do something similar to this when I go to see the movie in the next few days.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7272779072787485127.post-66432864354032005482011-12-28T05:58:00.000-08:002011-12-28T05:58:19.624-08:00LVF and Company - Expect more posts soon!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I apologies everyone for my lack of updating! The holidays created a bunch of chaos for me in terms of work and me getting ill. But on the bright side, in a few hours I'll be getting one of the best Christmas treats of all - getting to see my frilly friend from CA who will be staying with me for a week! As a result, expect some more videos and posts in a more personal sense with her visit coming soon.<br />
<br />
Curious, what did everyone get for their respective holidays this year? I didn't get too much in the world of frills this year, but I did get some adorable Doc Martin Polka Dot boots in Black and my other favorite present being My So Called Life The Complete Series! Did you guys get what you wanted for the holidays? Leave it down on the comment section below!<br />
<br />
I hope everyone's holiday was lovely and that you have some epic New Years Eve plans! I'll be celebrating a day early at this year's Dances of Vice celebration called Moonlight Circus! With the theme being circuses, I decided to dress as the Show Pony girl. Have big feathers in my hair, pink tutu vibe and possibly harlequin tights or something of a fun pattern to my liking. What are your plans for New Years? So curious to know!<br />

Many have been asking when "Not Another Lolita Blog" would be returning and well... here it is! In this episode you can see me and some of my frilly girls head out to celebrate <b>International Lolita Day:Winter 2011</b>. And don't worry, this isn't the last you'll be seeing of the video series! More posts will be coming in the future and boy, I am beyond excited for them! Here's the video below:</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
In other news, you might have noticed on the side of the blog that there is an Amazon link! Well I'm pleased to say that La Vida Frills is now an Amazon affiliate. If you need to do any Christmas shopping this year, please feel free to click on my side bar to shop all the amazing deals on Amazon. I put a list of some of my recommendations for the holidays when it comes to frilly movies, toys and books. You can't go wrong with Amazon (they are a serious life saver!) Feel free to check it out!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Also, did you know La Vida Frills turned 2 years old? I know this year I didn't make as big a hoot about it like last year, but I do want to just simply say: Thank you. When I started LVF I had no idea what kind of a response I would get. Yes, there is a very small amount of you that come to read the posts and comment on them. But seeing the few of you that do have such passion and love in your hearts makes me really never want to give this blog up. I hope to be getting more on the bandwagon with making LVF more fabulous for the next year and the years to come. I hope to write/tape a bigger thank you soon, since this is a little too casual for my taste. But in general: </div>

<br />
All right, I'm going to do sort of a shameless plug. As some of you may know I work at Bath and Body Works at my local mall, and as a sales associate I'm asked to talk up our new scents. Though sometimes I disagree with these ideas, our new scent really is amazing and I'm seriously a big fan! It's called <i><a href="http://www.blogger.com/goog_1461357486">Be Enchanted</a></i><a href="http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=12213569&cm_sp=FO-_-FragranceTop%20Fragrances-_-Be%20Enchanted&cp=4090260.4090353"> </a>and is a mixture of Pomegranates and Sugar Leaves. It comes in the usual styles (Lotion, Shower Gel and Splash) along with others. Other scents to check out are <a href="http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12330357&cm_vc=200">Strawberry Sparkler</a>, <a href="http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=4379380&cm_sp=FO-_-FragranceTop%20Fragrances-_-Secret%20Wonderland&cp=4090260.4090353">Secret Wonderland</a>, <a href="http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=12249793&cm_sp=FO-_-FragranceTop%20Fragrances-_-Winter%20Candy%20Apple&cp=4090260.4090353">Winter Candy Apple</a> and <a href="http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=11906839&cm_sp=FO-_-FragranceTop%20Fragrances-_-Paris%20Amour&cp=4090260.4090353">Paris Amour</a>! Trust me, you can never go wrong with smelling good for the holidays.<br />

3. Locketship<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGX1TYz58WP5BOg2SdNA2KOO9IcxJD053q9d3vPiE83i2J1ZexJH7Lz15NAMTNThv0Mo7oZ6MkE-KP1WJBg2curfQPCQdh4dqWLlNEQnvBPSy_q4EUye7SFaR85iCDhnC0bQNkWb2pt6Q/s1600/Picture+1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGX1TYz58WP5BOg2SdNA2KOO9IcxJD053q9d3vPiE83i2J1ZexJH7Lz15NAMTNThv0Mo7oZ6MkE-KP1WJBg2curfQPCQdh4dqWLlNEQnvBPSy_q4EUye7SFaR85iCDhnC0bQNkWb2pt6Q/s200/Picture+1.png" width="194" /></a></div>
So you know that you wanna get her a special piece of jewelry, but nothing at the normal places in the mall are doing it. She has all the Tarina Tarantino and Betsey Johnson collections from every season, but you don't want to just slim down to a gift card at Macy's. Look no further then Locketship, an amazing brand that features some of the most beautiful and colorful of designs out there. Though a bit pricy, some of these pieces truly are worth it. I'm especially obsessed with t<a href="http://www.locketship.com/#!__shop/sparkling-sea-collection">he Sparkling Sea collection</a> and the <a href="http://www.locketship.com/#!__shop/unicorn-princess-collection">Unicorn</a> one as well. Basically these pieces are amazing and I'm obsessed - so I'm sure your girl will be too.<br />
<br />
4. Etsy Shops<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_UvGHuRb8qXzx_LgxmpHBy4gkzotoI91xayNQVF7l62tBTQOxpMuKxN59Yx7M-QWSvlJjKRVJegsnPGej4DZU1t8rOntwc38WRVHlj0bcfy8gF7kn_MDRci24y0uFIP9o_haCdXB-WXI/s1600/il_570xN.291934341.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_UvGHuRb8qXzx_LgxmpHBy4gkzotoI91xayNQVF7l62tBTQOxpMuKxN59Yx7M-QWSvlJjKRVJegsnPGej4DZU1t8rOntwc38WRVHlj0bcfy8gF7kn_MDRci24y0uFIP9o_haCdXB-WXI/s200/il_570xN.291934341.jpg" width="168" /></a></div>
As mentioned, the two options above are pretty pricy. So what do you do to get a truly unique gift for someone that has it all without blowing all your savings and that down payment on the new Angelic Pretty reserve? Check out the various amazing handmade stuff on Etsy! Here are a few of my current favorite stores to check out. First, for the mermaid fan in us all check out <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/SirensGrotto?ref=seller_info">Siren's Grotto</a> by internet darling Traci Hines. She makes tons of amazing accessories to fit your favorite mermaids color and tase along with things for the fellow cosplayers out there, and if there is any mermaid you can trust it's Traci for sure! Also check out <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/AliceDoll">Alice Doll</a> (adorable and beautifully made ice cream rings, brooches and more!), <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/decorarockstar">Icing Sugar</a> (Beautiful brooches and clothes) and <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/XOThePinkLife">The Pink Life</a> (Mega 80's accessories)! Hopefully something can catch your eye there!<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
It wouldn't be a La Vida Frill's Christmas without bringing up the world of film, of course! So if interested soon a post about my top 5 Best Rankin and Bass Christmas Specials will be up and I recommend going for one of those. Also there are a slew of old reviews/recommendations from past Christmas's I've made on here, including my all time favorite The Polar Bear King. Be sure to look for more Christmas themed movie ideas in the next week or so.<br />
<br />

Both share similarities that one could not configure through a normal looking glass but when looking deep within can see a world of possibilities. I bring you a luscious "A-ha" moment ladies. Are you ready? Drag Queens and Lolitas are ridiculously similar.<br />
<br />
Now that you might have had a gasp and a moment to think, take a deep breath and remember - be calm. No, I'm not saying that we are men dressed to be female impersonators (though we do have Brolita's and gosh do I love them!) but instead that like Drag Queens us girls in frills are of a very similar attitude, mind set and cultural behaviors. We are both of an extreme subculture based around fashion/appearance, and we have an actual system of rules and regulations that keep it in order, excluding it from other subcultures and lifestyles. (You don't see a group of girls that are religiously obsessed with Wal-Mart or reserving prints at Kohls, do you?)<br />
<br />
So in honor of the teaser trailer release of <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/14/rupauls-drag-race-season-4_n_1093477.html">Rupaul's Drag Race Season 4</a>, I just had to write this article - the article of my dreams. Now if you are completely stumped on how RuPaul relates to Maki and Asuka, well take a look below at a side by side comparison of somethings that you may find surprising. Trust me, when I had the revelation it definitely took me a back. So let's lip sync for our lives huntee, and check out the relations below.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y69/Mumas/?action=view&current=tumblr_lrw1264XCQ1qbzqexo1_500.gif" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" height="244" src="http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y69/Mumas/tumblr_lrw1264XCQ1qbzqexo1_500.gif" width="320" /></a>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="text-decoration: underline;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Drama</span></span></i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Let's face it, there is definitely drama in Lolita Fashion. You know it, your friend knows it, hell even your momma probably knows about it too. From the infamous drama communities, cgl (it exists honey, let's embrace it...?) and even just private little spats - it's a drama cliche driven world out there. But guess what? Drag Queens have that all too. Sure they might not have an online forum community like us but there are plenty of cat fights and backstabbing.<br />
<br />
Take for instance the drama on <i>RuPaul's Drag Race</i>, specifically Raven versus Tatiana. Raven is a much more professional and older queen from LA, where as Tatiana was younger and newer at the game (think of it as an older Lolita versus an newbie). Raven would basically tease Tatiana to no end, allowing it to end in a catty fight towards the end of the season. As mentioned, there is definitely a dramatic difference between the older Queens versus the newer ones. Maybe it's a age thing or maybe even something of jealousy or envy on both sides, either way it can end in a big ol' mess. But when Queens come together after a battle it sure is a lovely sight of love and harmony, which I believe can be said the same for any relationship patchwork. Speaking of which....<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y69/Mumas/?action=view&current=tumblr_lq1zf9B8sw1qbzqexo1_500.gif" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" height="214" src="http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y69/Mumas/tumblr_lq1zf9B8sw1qbzqexo1_500.gif" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><u>Older Vs. Newbs</u></span></i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><u>(a.k.a Heathers vs. Buggers</u></span></i></b>)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
You know how it is when you start out in the scene, everything looks a bit bigger and scarier then it does later on in your frill life (Trust me, I was extreme fail the first go around) and the same goes doubly for our fellow Queens. It's one thing to dress in a poofy dress and call it a day, but to dress as the identity of another gender?<br />
<br />
Oh honey please, it ain't easy. But then you've been in the scene for a while, you've evolved from that girl asking the questions about Bodyline on egl to the one answering the questions about Angelic Pretty. We learn and we grow. But as mentioned above, both of these scenes share their drama in the generational gaps.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The best example in this can be that of the two cliches discussed at length in Drag Race Season 3, Heathers vs. Buggers. The Heathers (formed in the show of Manila, Raja, Carmen and Delta) were the beauty queens, the fiercest and the trend setters. They always would win competitions, have the best dresses and lip sync with the most passion. Much of the time the Heathers would be Queens in their "prime" or had been around a decent enough time to know a thing or two. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Then on the other side we have the Buggers (or to frilly relate, Itas or Newbs) The Queens that maybe aren't as polished as the others because they are newer to the scene or maybe didn't listen to their Drag Mothers as they should have. Sometimes Buggers can be the ones that are more reliant on their wit then say their looks or their sewing skills. Buggers can also be a bit easier to jump into drama then say Heathers, where they like to be in denial of a flaw and attack a Heather to make themselves feel better. (Sound familiar girls?) There are even some Queens that'll give themselves other titles like a Veronica (Raven dubbed herself this in Drag U Season 2) But not all these groups are filled with drama....<br />
<br />
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y69/Mumas/?action=view&current=12454132336.gif" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" height="236" src="http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y69/Mumas/12454132336.gif" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><u>Last Friendships</u></span></b></i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It's true that some of the weirdest of events can gain you the greatest of friends, and I was lucky enough to have been granted the chance to have some of the best friends a girl can ask for because of this Fashion. I honestly think my life would be a lot more duel, sad and just not sparkly enough if it weren't for the beautiful and talented people I've met while wearing the frills. I think the same can be said for the long term friendships made through being a Queen. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
These are both subcultures that you really need to make lasting bonds within to stay current and continue on with it for the long hall. I know I'm never the best dressed in the culture, but I do consider myself to be the Miss Congeniality, and that comes from the friendships I've made and the ones that are far beyond just about dresses - they are about a sisterhood huntee! We can teach one other things within the fashion and within life itself. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Queens and Lolitas can bond over this. You really can make lifelong friendships with people you otherwise never would have ever thought of to meet, just because we share this similar love for poofy dresses and a time long forgotten. Queens share that similarity of wanting to be fierce, beautiful and creative. Together, friendships like this can rule the world and make it ones that withstand even more then the ones you might have had in high school or in college. The girls I've met I know will be there for me forever, as I will be with them. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u><b>AND FINALLY......</b></u></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u><b><br /></b></u></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u><b><br /></b></u></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y69/Mumas/?action=view&current=pussypoplikecolacocatumblr.gif" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" height="179" src="http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y69/Mumas/pussypoplikecolacocatumblr.gif" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><b><i><u>We Are All Fabulous</u></i></b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
That's right girl, everyone in these cultures is amazing and fabulous. Even if you are new at this style and just attempting to see if you even want to fully dive into it, you've already made the biggest step of all: Being Yourself. In a world where we are told that everyone should just be the norm and that is what is praised, honey - no normal person ever truly succeeded. As RuPaul says to all the girls, "Uniqueness, Nerve and Talent" are what is gonna get you places and that is exactly what you need in Lolita Fashion and in life in general.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Drag Queens have taught me that confidence is the biggest and most important factor in your entire out look on life. If you don't believe in who you are and what makes you fabulous, then you might as well go home and cry to your picture of Maki and Asuka. Like many that have come before, sitting in a corner and doing nothing doesn't solve any problems or get you anywhere. And if you don't feel fabulous right now, change it so that you feel so! Even if someone says you can't - you can!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
From watching the girls on Drag Race and seeing my other friends I've made a commitment this year that I'm going to make myself feel the most fabulous then I ever have. I'm going to take my lessons in treating myself right (and getting rid of those little bits of pounds keeping me away from some brand pieces), getting myself some wigs (you can never have enough of those!) and making me the ultimate version of myself! But aside from the outer stuff, I want to make myself proud of who I am as a person. So trust me, a new La Vida Frills is upon us and it'll be fiercer then ever.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
If you are feeling the same way, girl - get yourself to where you need to be and take some advice from those that are incredible. Pick a role model (a Queen works too!) and figure out the things that you like about them, and apply them in a natural and mature way to yourself. What do they do that I can reasonably do that'll make me feel like a true and fabulous Diva? That's what Queens do and trust me, it'll make you feel sparkly all over.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><u><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">So what have we learned today?</span></i></u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="Apple-style-span">You are amazing, Queens are amazing - and if the world don't see that then they need their overpriced sunglasses checked. So what are you going to do today to make yourself feel amazing?</span></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7272779072787485127.post-79031480954201870422011-11-19T07:43:00.001-08:002011-11-19T07:50:10.073-08:00Mirror, Mirror Trailer<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Oh gosh guys, here's the <i><b>OTHER SNOW WHITE</b></i> movie trailer. I present to you <i>Mirror Mirror</i>, a movie that considers itself to be the superior Snow White re-telling. It's of a more lighter family appropriate affair with some cheesy jokes, divine costumes and Julia Roberts. (who I have a love hate relationship with!)<br />
<br />
Originally I was going to hate on this movie just simply based on whose directing it, (Damn you Tarsem!) but I'm giving it the upper hand as it really reminds me of the Fairy Tale Theater television series style of storytelling. Comedy and fluffy with an adult sense of humor. Also Nathan Lane is in it, therefore it must be incredible because he is my comedy god.<br />
<br />
So if interested, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpLVO396eHs">check out the trailer here</a>. Afterwards write your thoughts down below of which of the Snow White movies is the fairest of them all in your eyes. I'm still pushing for the <i>Huntsman version</i> but this is getting my interests more then I expected.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7272779072787485127.post-31842781204166044962011-11-12T06:11:00.001-08:002011-11-12T06:52:27.439-08:00LVF's Winter Tips!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
My favorite season is fast approaching and I'm seriously just buzzing with excitement over all the fun and yummy things coming up! So though I'm no expert on all things for all seasons (<a href="http://www.parfaitdoll.com/">my friend Parfait Doll is though!</a>) I thought I could at least write down some things I believe are frilly essentials for the cold times a-comin'.<br />
<br />
1) <b><i>Drink As Many Delicious Hot Drinks As Possible</i></b><br />
Maybe it's just me, but I am a sucker for a good cup of either Chai, Hot Chocolate or Apple Cider. Though I usually love these drinks all year round, there is something special about getting them during the colder months and adding a splash of whipped cream at the top with some sprinkles or chocolate chunks. For me though it's all about the mint or the dark chocolate. Just last night I tried a new favorite - <b style="font-style: italic;">Mint Green Milk Tea! </b>It comes in a beautiful Mint color and is delicious without being too intense. Also I recommend trying <b><i>Max Brenner's brew of Dark Hot Chocolate</i></b> - the more intense the better in this case. It'll give that lovely yummy winter cheer in your step.<br />
<br />
2)<b><i> Invest In A Good Pair of Mittens/Gloves This Winter!</i></b><br />
If Halloween was any indication for us on the East Coast of the US what winter has in store, this tip will certainly be helpful. I personally have tons of gloves but I always lose them. This year I'm making a decision to get rid of all the gloves I can't wear with most of my frilly outfits and in turn find a pair that works for all and every kind of outfit. Though some might think they are ridiculous, I'm seriously digging these pair of cupcake inspired mitten to fingerless style gloves that come from <a href="http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=22867295&color=045&color=045&itemdescription=true&navAction=jump&search=true&isProduct=true&parentid=SEARCH+RESULTS">Urban Outfitters</a>. Urban along with Forever 21 have tons of great styles to chose from.<br />
<br />
3) <b><i>Buy yourself a really nice present. You deserve it girlfriend!</i></b><br />
This year has definitely been a strange one. Filled with drama, fun and incredible adventures. Though I had bought some little treats for myself down the road and an amazing Graduation present - Christmas is the time to celebrate the year and what a better way then to get yourself something nice to end the year on a good note. This year I've decided to indulge myself in a TaoBao spree! I've never bought a lot from TaoBao stores before, but I keep hearing how great the prices are and what amazing things behold in them. Also, I'm seriously eyeing <a href="http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=12704536108&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch8.taobao.com%2Fsearch%3Fq%3D%25B9%25DA%25D0%25AC%26cat%3D50006843%26commend%3Dall%26style%3Dgrid%26ppath%3D21921%253A28389%26cps%3Dyes%26ssid%3Ds5-e%26fs%3D1%26unid%3D0%26mode%3D63%26pid%3Dmm_14507416_2297358_8935934%26p4p_str%3Dfirstpage_pushleft%253D0%2526lo1%253D90%2526lo2%253D90%2526nt%253D1%26s%3D280&ali_trackid=2:mm_14507416_2297358_8935934,0:1319563128_4z8_390153360">these babies</a> to wear with my Lovely Sweet Room print.<br />
<br />
4) <b><i>Watch A Christmas/Winter Themed Movie You've Never Seen</i></b><br />
Since LVF is a lot about the movies, you know you can expect to see tons of Christmas/Winter themed movie posts coming shortly. But the question is, is there a Christmas movie you haven't seen before? Well this year go out and find one you've been itching to see as a kid. Though I have watched it numerous times I highly recommend the short 30 minute TV Special <b style="font-style: italic;">The Wish That Changed Christmas, </b>about a girl who wishes to have a specific doll in a window after she's been kicked out of her orphanage for the winter. Every year I get a bit teary eyed and nostalgic watching it.<br />
<br />
So those are just a few very simple little tips to make your winter more enjoyable. Though not maybe the most creative, these make my favorite season even better. As mentioned, look forward to new posts about Winter/Christmas movies for your enjoyment! Also if you haven't, you can still submit an answer for the contest below (<a href="http://lavidafrills.blogspot.com/2011/10/shes-so-unusual-lolita-fashion-in-media.html">link here</a>). It ends on Nov.25th! What are you excited about with the upcoming winter season, or are you dreading it completely? Leave a comment below!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7272779072787485127.post-79619861563559019562011-11-10T14:22:00.001-08:002011-11-10T14:28:54.670-08:00New Trailer: Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpoHRgq8aZXnVhtcG5yZqyiE4wIpBvudCkQ_MzWXvcEsYoOAszkewLefmqPvilrTsRPF3xgkuQvpNxUWr8ZEyDGK9rfh_DFViJKw7kALbNWNbl0Y1uFFR7_bNTNjfqfSzTEXNf195xdOQ/s1600/Snow_White_And_The_Huntsman_Trailer_Features_Battles_Darkness_And_Magic_1320955567.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpoHRgq8aZXnVhtcG5yZqyiE4wIpBvudCkQ_MzWXvcEsYoOAszkewLefmqPvilrTsRPF3xgkuQvpNxUWr8ZEyDGK9rfh_DFViJKw7kALbNWNbl0Y1uFFR7_bNTNjfqfSzTEXNf195xdOQ/s320/Snow_White_And_The_Huntsman_Trailer_Features_Battles_Darkness_And_Magic_1320955567.jpeg" width="202" /></a></div>
So it's beginning to seem a lot like.... Summer trailer time! We already got some love from super hero trailers and other horror surprises as well and it isn't even 2012 yet. But one of the movies I'm the most excited about? <i><b>Snow White and the Huntsman</b>. </i><br />
<br />
Now I'll be honest I'm not terribly excited by Kirsten Stewart being a part of this project but everything else seems perfect. The visuals, costumes, and choice in other roles (Chris Hemsworth, need I say more!) look nothing short of incredible. Unlike previous fairy tale related films of the past year (COUGHCOUGH<b>LITTLEREDRIDINGHOOD</b>COUGHCOUGH) This looks like a high caliber film and definitely deserves respect. Also hopefully since it seems to be a Summer release it'll be decent. Curious? <a href="http://www.snowwhiteandthehuntsmanmovie.com/">Check out the trailer in the link</a><a href="http://www.snowwhiteandthehuntsmanmovie.com/">/website!</a><br />
<br />

Little did we know that we would find an extremely new collection addiction in our midst. Step over to the side My Little Pony and welcome Lalaloopsy Dolls. Now, some might think these dolls look a little on the creepy side. But to me these are a Lolita's dream doll. They have a slight gothic tang of rag doll style to them but with tons of sweet elements all around. Just read their description:<div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial, verdana; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); "><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial, verdana; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); "><i><b>"The Lalaloopsy Dolls™ were once rag dolls who magically came to life when their very last stitch was sewn. It was shot by a friend of mine (thanks Ann!) and should be available in the future that isn't as distant.</div><div><br /></div><div>Here's a small spoiler for you in picture form, taken by my lovely friend Yuuki!</div><div><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPhJJNFu5YguW0sQcAKGTPbmVLFdxGOPzOsxsEQk-GMZWzLkK-VtWuRDPFPvwq2LAteWVAMjQnFDAo3ANGhmziCZ_orhf1KGf4l5PSUehNCeBxDncw6lPaYRrM9qNjX_7wASuMzBS8x54/s1600/309073_948720829298_60715597_40660687_841168219_n.jpeg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPhJJNFu5YguW0sQcAKGTPbmVLFdxGOPzOsxsEQk-GMZWzLkK-VtWuRDPFPvwq2LAteWVAMjQnFDAo3ANGhmziCZ_orhf1KGf4l5PSUehNCeBxDncw6lPaYRrM9qNjX_7wASuMzBS8x54/s320/309073_948720829298_60715597_40660687_841168219_n.jpeg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5664997185321480418" /></a><br />One disappointing factor of the panel was I ran out of time to play the game at the end. I didn't get to do too many guest related things or interviews, but I did present a wildly successful panel and attended some of the coolest presentations of all time. There's a lot for me to write about and my fingers are just crying at the prospect of all the button smashing about to take place, but don't worry there's a lot of content for you lovely frillies to check out here and on my sister blog <a href="http://twentyfourlies.blogspot.com/">Twenty Four Lies Per Second</a> for tons of nerdy and lolita coverage for your enjoyment!<div><br /></div><div>In the meantime, I'd like to mention a big thank you to MTV Geek for mentioning my panel (<a href="http://geek-news.mtv.com/2011/10/11/the-10-most-off-beat-panels-at-new-york-comic-con-2011/">and when I mean mentioning I mean commenting on....</a>) as a list of their "Most Off Beat Panels" at NYCC. Because when you know it's a legit comment about your knowledge in a topic can when it's confirmed by a channel that should have changed their name like 10 years ago. You know cause they don't actually play music anymore - irony, it's cool. Also major props go to the picture, super special yo. </div><div><br /></div><div>So, excited to hear about the panel? Wanting to possibly win a prize? Sorry for the lack of posting again, been busy recovering from Fashion Night Out and getting pumped for NYCC/My panel! But by golly is there something cool happening tomorrow for all those in NY and I am extremely excited!<div><br /></div><div>Tomorrow Tokyo Rebel will be hosting an event exclusive within their store where the TV Station NHK "Tokyo Kawaii TV" will be filming the customers for a special episode to air sometime in the future. Part of the episode will be at the store while the rest will take place at CHA-AN, and NHK will exclusively invite some of the Lolitas to have tea there!</div><div><br /></div><div>So now I'm on a massive hunt to coordinate the most epic outfit possible that showcases my personal Lolita style and that will make me stand out in NHK's eyes, hoping that I'll get chosen as one of the lucky 20 girls!</div><div><br /></div><div>First off, I was originally going to wear just punk style - but as much as I love it when I saw <a href="http://letsgocolourful.tumblr.com/">letsgocolourful's tumblr</a> I became inspired to do a more sweet style coordinate!</div><div><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHqJoM10qergFDl3ghVqIahadyZfW-Bv2i07sUuF0cbhOrtOpjLjj8Fr1DhQsofbsVkYw5D0fnxPeivqq67WbVy5KSbwlBeC23htn3Oudf5zfDb4gN31TbFln7u_Ab0oaFN2OrQxIuRak/s1600/chesire-cat.jpeg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 190px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHqJoM10qergFDl3ghVqIahadyZfW-Bv2i07sUuF0cbhOrtOpjLjj8Fr1DhQsofbsVkYw5D0fnxPeivqq67WbVy5KSbwlBeC23htn3Oudf5zfDb4gN31TbFln7u_Ab0oaFN2OrQxIuRak/s320/chesire-cat.jpeg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5655192097715223282" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCO2tGrvInL-rB4_0r_cBhp8BkCpc43_Hahd9ft14VvcjZKfLwrxdSIo3kYYEGOhuO7mo3cfOCc1clhY_NxRVOMzyljo-WGe4agbfo0dmvIAGViKm4kghKDi9-Y4qCp6zpuAohdSMpS6s/s1600/tumblr_lq7z8jtkoh1qc5jio.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 239px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCO2tGrvInL-rB4_0r_cBhp8BkCpc43_Hahd9ft14VvcjZKfLwrxdSIo3kYYEGOhuO7mo3cfOCc1clhY_NxRVOMzyljo-WGe4agbfo0dmvIAGViKm4kghKDi9-Y4qCp6zpuAohdSMpS6s/s320/tumblr_lq7z8jtkoh1qc5jio.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5655192422921848354" /></a>So with that I decided to do something more on a Fairy Kei inspired side! There will be tons more accessories added to this outfit but hey, why the heck not go all out for this right?<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4xbv5U_VQPY0uoemmrjpMykC-xqLPBEOT7wUN_F5ThznYGisCoCfToG3gjnWj29VraxTaYJHJ0QM3bIDCQz5a3U5MjdjuvhcHZPQK10qU4xfNWP9U96RbCBEKhyjsR8fJAm6JjhrzVXI/s1600/Friday+Outfit+%25231.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 247px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4xbv5U_VQPY0uoemmrjpMykC-xqLPBEOT7wUN_F5ThznYGisCoCfToG3gjnWj29VraxTaYJHJ0QM3bIDCQz5a3U5MjdjuvhcHZPQK10qU4xfNWP9U96RbCBEKhyjsR8fJAm6JjhrzVXI/s320/Friday+Outfit+%25231.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5655205949642307522" /></a><div>I don't always wear blouses with my outfits, so I'm hoping to start up again this winter with this one. I also plan on taking the insane detachable bow from the JSK and attached it to the collar of the blouse - hence why I got inspired by the outfit above! Finally I plan on making my very teased and adding tons of bows and charms in my hair. I'm tempted to do possibly buns instead but I'm not sure still. </div><div><br /></div><div>So if you're in the NYC area and are interested in getting in on the action yourself, check out the <a href="http://blog.tokyorebel.com/2011/09/september-23-join-us-and-nhk-for.html">TR blog post here</a>!
